The Connect & Communicate Approach
The approach that Sinead takes entails a thorough understanding of the child, their interests and voice within the assessment and therapy. She enjoys working closely with other professionals involved in the child’s care as she continuously strives for multi-disciplinary collaboration, indeed this is encouraged.
Sinead views a child’s functional communication skills, and this is why observation within a naturalistic setting (school/home) is encouraged within the assessment process. The goal is to empower and equip the client and important adults in their lives to advocate for their strategies with confidence within daily life.

Sinéad Wins 2026 ASLTIP Leadership Award
Connect and Communicate is thrilled to announce that our founder has been awarded the 2026 Leadership Award by the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP).
The award recognises leadership that strengthens practice, builds confidence, and creates lasting change. In presenting the award, ASLTIP praised her transformative impact across schools, multidisciplinary teams, and the wider profession, highlighting her clinical expertise, strategic thinking, and genuine compassion in leading collaborative, child-centred practice.
She is especially proud of the commitment to building capacity in others: training staff, empowering families, and creating sustainable, high-quality provision for children and young people. Known for her approachability, she isn't seen as a visiting professional but as a true partner in every team she works with.
This recognition reflects the values at the heart of Connect and Communicate: connection, collaboration, and individualised support. Thank you to every colleague, school team, therapist, parent and carer who made this possible.
Connect & Communicate Services
Human connection drives communication. For many of our children with speech, language and communication needs they are often misunderstood, this causes disconnect and a breakdown in communication.
Once connection is established, we can understand the drivers for a child and young person to ignite their communication skills. These come hand in hand.
The company name is reflective of Sinead's values as she strives to be neuro-divergent affirming, strength based, and child-led. These three main ingredients allow the clinician to see through the client’s perspective and advocate for their needs, strengths and accommodations which is unique to the individual.
We recommend that any relevant professionals join the therapy sessions with the consent of parents to ensure the continuity and consistency of support to the child within their familiar settings.
