In-Person Initial Assessment

At Connect and Communicate, we believe in a thorough and personalised approach to understanding your child's speech and language needs. Our In-Person Assessment service is designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation in the environment where your child feels most comfortable, whether at home, school, or nursery. What's Included: • Online Case History Discussion with the Parent: Before the in-person assessment, Sinead will conduct an online discussion with you to gather essential background information and understand your concerns and goals. This conversation lays the foundation for a tailored assessment. • Formal/Informal Language Assessment with the Child: Depending on your child's ability, Sinead will conduct either a formal or informal language assessment. This decision will be made in collaboration with you, ensuring that the assessment method aligns with your child's unique needs and abilities. • Setting Observation: Observing your child in their natural environment provides invaluable insights into their communication skills and challenges. Sinead will spend time watching how your child interacts at home, school, or nursery to gain a holistic understanding of their needs. • Discussion with Education Staff (if during term time): If the assessment takes place during the school term, Sinead will engage with teachers and other education staff to gather additional insights and ensure a collaborative approach to your child's care. • Feedback to Parent (phone call): After the assessment, Sinead will provide detailed feedback via a phone call, discussing the findings, recommendations, and next steps. This conversation ensures that you fully understand the assessment results and have an opportunity to ask any questions. Please note that a written report can also be added to the service for an additional £120.
